A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
(September 28, 2005)

Dear Colleagues in Correctional Chaplaincy-

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina - our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones, to those communities and people whose lives and homes destroyed, and to all those who are assisting in the recovery and rebuilding.

We invite you to support any and all relief efforts. In particular, we bring to your attention to efforts with a correctional emphasis. Please read the following regarding the Salvation Army and the ACA Hurricane Relief Fund:

Jim Gondles of the ACA writes…

…..Millions of people are going to need vast amounts of assistance. Recovery is going to rely on swift action from government agencies and private charities. I urge everyone to contact local and national charitable organizations and find out how you can help with relief efforts. One of ACA's affiliates, the Salvation Army, is accepting donations for these relief efforts. You may send a check to

If you would like additional information on how you can help, please contact George Hood at the Salvation Army at george_hood@usn.salvationarmy.org.

Additionally, ACA is joining with the North American Association of Wardens and Superintendents, the Association for Women Executives in Corrections, and other correctional organizations to accept donations for correctional staff affected by the hurricane. Donations for this effort may be sent to:

Please keep our brothers and sisters in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi in your thoughts and prayers and please try to help however you can.

James A. Gondles, Jr., CAE
Executive Director

May God give all citizens strength during the rebuilding and wisdom for personal and communal Restoration.

Peace always,
Paul E. Rogers
